A place like no other
Am freien Feld
Am freien Feldis the name of the street where we built our apartment complex in 2016 in accordance with state-of-the-art standards. Enjoy the view of the fields, breathe in the clean air of the Schurwald forest, and take a break from the stress of everyday life and work.
Our values
The natural surroundings near our apartment complex are very important to us. That’s why our building’s heating system is almost completely carbon neutral, and we also only use green electricity. Our cistern system supplies rainwater for toilet flushing, which helps conserve valuable water resources. If you’d like, you can purchase environmentally friendly compostable coffee capsules to use with our Nespresso machines. These capsules are manufactured by an innovative start-up company.
We will also soon be installing an efficient photovoltaic system on our pitched roof, which faces south. The system will be used in conjunction with several energy storage devices.
Among other things, this will make it possible to quickly and efficiently charge electric vehicles via a wall box unit.
All of the aforementioned measures and systems demonstrate our ongoing commitment to environmental protection.
History of our building
As the owner of a building services engineering firm, I used to spend a lot of time on the road. In the evening, I still had to work on the projects I managed during the day. I found the small desks and tables in my hotel rooms to be very annoying – there was no room for my laptop and all of my file folders. That’s how I came up with the idea of designing comfort apartments. Along with normal key furnishings, such as
proper, comfortable and clean beds, a separate bathroom and a kitchen area in each apartment, it was important to me that each flat also include a large table/desk system that would offer enough space for a laptop, sketchpad and a bottle of my favourite beer – Stuttgarter Hofbräu...

Ownership and Management
My wife and I came to know and love Lichtenwald while we were studying in Esslingen. We found that the caring, helpful and outgoing Swabian people living in this rural area were good for us – us newcomers from the Palatinate region of Germany.
As the owner of a building services engineering firm, I appreciated the fact that Lichtenwald was quiet and calm, and yet also centrally located in the direct vicinity of the Stuttgart and Middle Neckar Valley business region.
My wife and I are involved in various church volunteer programmes, and we also support the Mercy Ships aid organisation and the Kinderhaus Sumbawanga children’s home in Western Tanzania.
The Team
At work for you
We are very grateful to have a highly dedicated team at our side – and in the background – to ensure that you, our guests, always feel comfortable.
Donjet Kastrati (left) is a lawn-mowing expert like no other and also helps out with technical issues. His sister, Fladjeta (2nd from right), reliably organises all service tasks. Together with their mother, Lirije Kastrati (2nd from left), who is always there to help my wife, Donjet and Fladjeta also make sure that our building, flats and outside areas remain clean and tidy.
Bilal Okla (far right) completed his training in a very short period of time – and is now a proficient technician. As our facility manager, Bilal ensures that everything runs smoothly, and he’s always there to help with any problems large or small.
